But wouldn't life be boring if everyone was limited to experiencing only their own local specialties, and no others? The joy of life in the 21st century is that now we can all experience local delicacies and eccentricities not just from nearby but from around the globe.
While we admire those who strive to be true "locavores" and consume only products grown or made right where they live, in many parts of the world that's not feasible: Who wants to survive on moose meat and parsnips for half the year? Even here in farm-rich California, we often crave delights found only half a world away.
Dibs seeks to globalize the local, to celebrate our planet's dazzling multitudes of sights, sounds, flavors and wonders, without losing what makes each one of these unique.
